Who is this for?
This cohort attracts a wide variety of participants with different backgrounds and nationalities. These participants fit into one of three groups.
- 65% Learning professionals
- 25 % Creative professionals
- 10 % Others
Learning professionals
The majority of people who take part in this course are learning professionals. For example, instructional designers, teachers, trainers and other learning experts working in education and learning and development.
The main reasons they enrol are:
- To add new skills, methods and tools to their professional toolbox.
- To transition into learning experience design. For example, a teacher who wants to do work for corporate clients.
- To find inspiration to create new ways of learning and boost learner engagement.
- To gain a competitive edge and attract more clients.
Creative professionals
The second largest group are creative professionals like user experience designers, graphic designers, interaction designers, game designers and, of course, learning experience designers.
The main reasons they enrol are:
- To apply their design skills for a different purpose: to help people learn.
- To expand their customer base with universities, L&D departements
- To move into EdTech and create technology that works as well as it looks.
- To better collaborate with learning professionals when working on educational projects.
Others
The third group is even more diverse with event organisers, HR professionals, psychologists, people working in film and tv and more. What all of these participants have in common is a love for learning and the desire to create better learning experiences. For example, an event organiser wants to ensure visitors go home with valuable lessons learned. Or a television producer wants to create engaging videos for learning purposes.
As you can see, this cohort brings together all the disciplines that make learning experience design what it is: a interdisciplinary design discipline that bridges the gap between the worlds of design an learning.
